Artist and tutor
Donna Goymer is a mixed media artist inspired by the landscape around her and she uses a combination of textiles, paper, paint and stitch by machine and hand.
Her inspiration comes from the world around her, whether its nature or man-made. The colours, textures and emotions she senses from her surroundings enable her to be inspired and to create her work. Donna take’s photographs and she sketches and paints her ideas continually now. She enjoys teaching and hopes to start up textile and mixed media workshops in the near future.
Donna learnt her stitch and textile-based crafts from her mother, aunt and gran and has developed an art practice inspired by them. Her artwork has always given her the time to slow down, to reflect and to have time to herself.
In 2017 Donna had the great pleasure of winning the Festival of Quilts Visitor’s Choice Award for her quilt ‘Free to Roam’ and this spurred her on to develop her art further.
Donna is a graduate of the SEFWI Creative Stitch course, an exhibiting member of the Eastern Region Textile Forum and a member of Cambridge Open Studios and of the Linton Artists and Makers Group.
